cute thought, but feels like after the death of an author, that the subsequent uses of their characters are just cash grabs. muppets included.

But Henson started off doing commercials with his Muppets. I think he would be happy to know that his creations still hold value.

I would really, really hate to see Sesame Street ever being pulled off the air because Jim Henson was dead.

That doesn't make any sense to me. Jim Henson used Kermit and all the muppets for commercial gain throughout his life, he created a company based on it. He also didn't do it solo. So what about all the people (his friends and family, BTW) whose livelihoods are based on the work they did with him? Would they be SOL, or would it maybe be a good legacy to keep his creations still in the public eye and very much beloved twenty five years after his death?

If you don't think the answer is "keep the creation alive", then I'm not sure you know artists very well.

The sad thing is that it will by 25 years this May since he passed. That means an entire generation has grown up w/o Jim in the world.

I think he would be proud of his kids and happy that the Muppets still exist.

I'd love for his kids to do a puppet film again.

There was a short story by (I think) Ray Bradbury with a similar sentiment: a time traveler uses his ability to visit famous authors who never got their due in life on their deathbeds and quietly tells them how much their work turns out to mean to people. I think it's not uncommon to want that for the people who affect us positively and deeply.
