I think the context of the DC Cinematic Universe - and especially the sociopolitical context of the DC Cinematic Universe and its marketing and positioning - makes that unlikely. If anything, it's probably going to be the opposite - people are going to blame DC for not doing well enough to make the movie a success.

I also find Numenor fascinating. I agree that it is very different from the rest of what Tolkien was writing. The Second Age really gets glossed over but some really interesting stuff happened. For me, though, I don't really care for Sauron at all. I want to know more about everything else, but if you find anything set on Numenor, it's almost always about Sauron. I'm much more interested in the politics of Numenor and in their relationship with Valinor elves.

Did you mean Osse? I'm pretty sure Ulmo never joined Morgoth. I do find Osse to be interesting though. And the Warrior Valar from Lost Tales. Some of the earlier writings had really interesting/weird stuff, especially with how far removed they are from what came later. WRT Osse, I find it interesting how he serves Ulmo, who's all about helping elves and humans, but Ulmo can't stop Osse from making storms that kill everyone. I'm actually fascinated by the group of Osse, Ulmo, Uinen, and Salmar. They're all so different, and must have such an interesting dynamic between them all.
