The reason why I thought them somewhat obscure is that when I told most of my friends about the pairings, I garnered suspicious looks from them. Hence me keeping it secret.

I get weird looks for being proud of the pairing, and I still get weird looks when I say it's obscure. Lol. *headdesks*

I still play at the game they mean and I'm actually embarrassed at the way our players have been treating these two. Its unfair and pathetic.

Oh god no. Your friend needs to spend more time wading around in the seamier catacombs of the Internet XD House/Wilson and Holmes/Watson are some of my (and many others') favorite married!ships. Snape/Lily is the new black of het. Snape with any of the Marauders has always been fair game. Makes me bitter to be a Snape/Lucius shipper.

Hahhaha, no no, I can understand that. In terms of wide-scale fandom, you shouldn't have much trouble finding material for any of those pairings, I shouldn't think. But I know I have friends who raise an eyebrow when I express more interest in Norrington pairings than anything else PotC related. (I lie, my love of Davy Jones/Ursula surpasses Norrington, but what can you do?)
