Personally, I much prefer the tsundere stereotype to the Yamato Nadeshiko or sweet girl one, but all in all, anime and manga are just cliché and stereotype

. There are very few characters that don't fit into one category or another, and to be honest, I can't even think of an example for either gender. I can definitely see where you're coming from - it'd be wonderful to have more characters that step away from the stereotypes or at least attempt to, including tsundere, which is becoming increasingly more popular as you said - but I don't know. At the end of the day, when you have to pick between one or the other because nothing in between exists, I'd have to go with tsundere. Or the happy, bubbly type, whatever it's called. Sweet type is fun, but I find tsundere more interesting, even though the predictability is still there. Er... hope this made sense. I'm sorry if I've ranted completely off topic.
