The game takes place in a fictional world with fungi zombies. Do we have human zombies like that here? No. So, they have to realize in the world of the game, God does exist. Therefore, use the proper name. Just like you would with any other fictional character in a fictional world.

The way some people avoid at all costs using the term "God" is beyond silly.
