The funny thing is: I honestly think they tried very hard not to offend anyone (the whole safeword/consent discussion, being able to ask the trans NPC all kinds of deep and thoughtful questions about it, having a whole character mission revolve around "my parents don't accept my sexuality" etc.) and it STILL backfired.

But that reminds me of the cartoon someone from a newspaper drew - blank space and the title "Enjoy you completely unoffensive, politically correct cartoon" and as soon as it found its way on tumblr, people managed to get offended at a blank space. That's pretty much tumblr in a nutshell.
