Actually it's Black Vernacular English/African American Vernacular English. Sorry for the Know-it-all-ness, I just had a professor whose major area of study was on that, so it came up often.

But yeah, even he would have probably pointed out that "While it's interesting to my area of study, this is college. You need to write more formally."
