I'm cautiously optimistic about the upcoming Static Shock series, but I'm kind of meh on the idea of Jaden being cast. His acting just doesn't impress me very much, but it's been a couple of years since I've seen him in a movie and it's very possible that he's gotten better, so maybe he'll surprise me. It also really bums me out that Dwayne McDuffie isn't alive to put input into the new series :(

I generally like it with on-point characterisation, yes. I especially love, if the author can get the edge of danger and safety right, when a character finds an unlooked for safety at the hands of an in-character enemy or opponent. Because the circumstances changed, because there was a space where mercy was allowable/advantageous, because some evils go beyond what even an enemy is willing to countenance. That kind of story. I love that so much. I like the spaces where all the dangers are so very real, and all the safeties are so hard-won and bitterly carved out, but they're there nonetheless. Someone made them, and made other people safe inside them.

I don't know. I have moods where that so very cathartic and reassuring to me.

It's basically useless as an ideology. While there are some groups that don't engage in misogyny, the truth is that the feminist movement, contrary to what you might believe, is the better choice to stand with if one is interested in advancing the cause of men in terms of equality, because the problems men face today -- gender roles, fathers' rights, toxic masculinity, the fate of gay men or effeminate men, etc. -- are borne out of a patriarchical system.

With, of course, the only criteria necessary to be considered one of those people being disagreement with the social justice movement.

It's... actually pretty much accurate to say that the Imperials secretly hate anyone who isn't a High Elf (although they purport not to and instead just kind of let the conquered do their thing, not unlike the Mongol hordes). Whereas the Stormcloaks are just kind of openly assholes to anyone who isn't a Nord.

Man, the Aristocats was hands-down my favorite movie when I was about four, 'cause I've always been a big dork about cats (and animals in general, really), and I still watch it from time to time on Netflix. Good times, good times.

I don't think it's necessarily the same, though.

White power movements are ridiculous, because white people have it better pretty much everywhere. They're just kicking an already marginalised group when they're down. While the same could be said for MRAs and women, I don't think it's the same. The current system with its rigidly defined gender roles does affect men in a few key areas e.g. the idea that men shouldn't like or shouldn't be involved in child-rearing means that (in the UK and USA at least) men don't get the same amount of paternity as the mothers of their children). That has a backlash for women too - maternity leave is used to justify the wage gap.

That's not to say that I don't think women have it a lot worse, because we do. It's just men do face specific instances of prejudice based on their gender.
