Meant to reply to this. Mostly along the lines of YES GO WATCH IT.

If I were to pitch it even further...

So the first season is 13 episodes. The first five are a continuous introductory storyline that were actually edited together as a VHS movie at one point (two of which take place in medieval Scotland). That's how rich and deep and involved the set-up is. The rest of first season is great from there on out; it becomes more episodic, but the episodes influence each other, character development happens and is retained for future episodes, etc.

AND THEN SEASON TWO HAPPENS. Like, you want a four part retelling of Shakespeare's Macbeth? GARGOYLES HAS YOU COVERED. Same goes for A Midsummer's Night Dream. It's like gargoyle creatures + 90s neo noir ala B:TAS + Shakespeare.

And yeah. Meanwhile Xanatos. None of that even begins to get into Xanatos and how amazing he is and like how half of the awesomeness of his entourage is steeped in spoilers.

Just in the very first episodes the Gargoyles find themselves on the end of some bad magic back in Medieval Scotland and they're cursed to sleep until "the castle rose above the clouds." Enter David Xanatos a thousand years later. He reads up on the legend, figures there's a 10% it's legit, so he purchases the castle and reconstructs it on top of his Manhattan skyscraper. Because he's that badass.

This sounds way too complex and layered to be a childrens cartoon, lol. Which is great; I love family friendly stuff that can be enjoyed just as much (Or more) by adults. If you asked me what I expected from Gargoyles, I would not have said Shakespeare.

It was too good for this Earth.

Shakespeare, King Arthur/Avalon, Illuminati, Mob Bosses, biracial Native American/African female lead that's explicitly stated within in the narrative...

Oh. Odin and Anansi make appearances too. As in actual Norse God Odin and African spider spirit Anansi. And Puck is a reoccurring character, but I already pseudo-mentioned him.

But yeah. Just talking about it is making me want to watch it again. Might try for a gif per episode per day thing since Tumblr is lacking in quality ones.
