That's really dumb. Especially with really young children and a large group -- no one will even notice the bad singers unless they are also obnoxiously loud and make up 90% of the group.

Though personally I find below the age of, hmm, eight or so, all children sound really awful. The pitch is super grating to my ears. It's still cute as hell to watch them try.

Oh yeah, I guess that's true. I didn't even remember. I confess I wasn't paying attention because every other word was like "blah blah blah [god's name] blah blah [faction] blah blah [jargon]" and I was like lol I don't even know what you're saying.

For a fun game, Skyrim has one of the worst intro sequences of all time.

Yeah I'm done with this place.

Silly you, fanwriters can't demand anything, they have to be humble and very grateful that anyone bothers to read their fic at all.

Fanartists can spam all week about the importance of feedback and reblogs tho.

You know he's a fraud, right?

Re: OP

obviously 5 year-old you had the wrong reasoning, but...

(Anonymous) 2015-05-24 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I always figured they couldn't bestow character traits as a gift. So physical strength would've been possible, but not mental strength.

It sounds pretty entitled to me, especially for fanfiction. Lots of people write it for fun, and if for some reason it's no longer fun or they have other real life obligations like work, family, health and a social life that keeps them from doing it, I cannot imagine anyone reasonable going, "No! You have to finish this, you're not allowed to give up this hobby!"

Expecting other people to do stuff because you want them to without taking their desires or needs into consideration fits the definition of entitlement very well, OP.

Re: Favorite pet?

(Anonymous) 2015-05-24 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, rats are definitely the best rodent pet! Though I love them all, I don't think any of the others have as much of a reputation for being friendly and playful with humans - a lot of them just kind of do their own thing and look cute. Plus, all these recent studies about rats having empathy and an extremely developed emotional intellect is just fascinating and makes me love them more.

And ferrets, I don't really get why they are illegal. And normally I'm very supportive of laws that outlaw ownership of wild animals - but the domestic ferret just isn't wild. I don't see them really being able to survive on the streets or whatever, not in the least because they are all neutered at birth (and if they aren't, they will basically die if they don't breed). Luckily they were legal in my area, but it did take some searching to find a vet who could care for them. And of course no typical store will sell ferret food, you have to go to pet stores for that (and even then, not all will carry it).

Cats might be dicks sometimes, but when cats are dicks the most you get is a scratch.

When dogs are dicks, they can do serious damage.

I'd rather fight a dog than a cat any day.

Drink vitamin D? Usually people who are vitamin D deficient take supplements. It's a lot more effective than just consuming foods with vitamin D in it, like milk. I know from firsthand experience, sadly.

paint, as I have no photoshop. Will probably try to reinstall GIMP.

Given OP's reaction, I think they ARE 5 years old.

Holy shit, what did they want?

"There There, you're not EVIL because you're not as pretty or vocally talented as a Disney princess"?

Like...hell...I'm the one who made the comment in support (about Sleeping Beauty).

(Anonymous) 2015-05-24 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol to be fair, I think if you're playing Skyrim for the story, you're doing it wrong. It's got great world-building, but never really goes beyond the background or makes you actually give a shit. Most of the time I'd just ignore the dialogue haha

Welp, I think it's nice of you to put so much effort into f!s, so thanks for that. If this is the anon who first posted about wanting to save f!s you've lasted quite a while!

Hopefully someone else will pick up the slack. I should try to help, but I rarely remember to... (Or have anything that I think qualifies as a secret, but lots of secrets aren't STRICTLY secrets so I guess that doesn't matter.)

Re: Favorite pet?

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2015-05-24 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I would not. I have been bitten by cats and by dogs, and there's no picking up a dog by the scruff of the neck or throwing a towel over it and subduing it.

If a medium to large dog is attacking you and it's not deterred by a kick in the head, you're in a lot of trouble.

*shrug* I kinda don't have any fandom secrets.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-24 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfinished works used to annoy me, but at this point I get it.

Life happens, interest change and it's not like I'm paying for the whole completed work (in case of pro-writes), so I don't think I'm entitled to anything.

I do think, though, that (in case of fics) it's polite to put a note saying that the fic won't be continued. I really don't want to keep hoping for an update that'll never exist.

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2015-05-24 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, actually that was one of my major bones with it and why I eventually stopped playing it. The world exploration eventually runs out and by then you still don't care enough about it to make a cool house or do any of the other stuff.

No investment whatsoever.

My impression is that the logic runs so:

1): My Little Pony porn was created by straight white guys to appeal to other straight white guys.

2): Porn that appeals to straight white guys demeans people who are not straight white guys and makes them feel unwelcome.

3): All porn that appears in Steven Universe fandom is of exactly the same nature as My Little Pony porn.

4): Steven Universe fandom should be welcoming to a wide variety of people.

5): Therefore, Steven Universe fandom should not have porn.

1 is objectively false, and 3 is pretty shaky as well. I'd also argue with 2, but when someone honestly believes that, it's very difficult to convince them otherwise.

Just no.

The man's a con artist. He's built his career pretending to have supernatural powers when in fact it's all fakery and he has the gall to sue people who say differently. There is no possible way he could mean well, i.e. be sincerely convinced he has psychic powers because the stuff he does (like, but not limited to spoon bending) requires his collusion.

He's not quite as bad as the charlatans who claim to be able to speak to the dead and thereby milk their grieving families for money and publicity, but he's cut from the same cloth.

I'd love a cat or a dog but I'm allergic to cats. :( I also worry about whether or not I can afford to properly take care of one, including vet bills and stuff like that.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-24 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Similar thing for me anon. For my primary school's Christmas concert I always got stuck being an instrument player. Instrument players were tucked off to one side. The message I got was I wasn't pretty enough for a stage role. One year I asked to be an angel and got "angels don't have brown hair" as a response. I hated my hair for years after that.

I think OP's "evil" comment is a stretch but in my experience 5 is definitely old enough for adults to accidentally (or intentionally) give you messages about your worth.
