I don't think I can explain it in a way that makes sense (to you or even to me, lol), but like I said, I can't separate the thought that "these two people are in love with each other" so if that's left out I find myself feeling like something is missing.

I do totally understand why you would want to focus on their friendship because their friendship is amazing and SO many slash fics focus on the sex and the getting together instead of other (just as important) things.

However, I'm not saying I wouldn't read gen fic with them! The gen fic is probably just as good as the slash fic, the focus is just a bit different.
