I think you're conflating two very different things. Drag humor where the only joke is "Hey look, a man in women's clothing! How hilarious!" is, yes, outdated and in bad taste. However, drag humor where actors in drag are playing characters and the humor derives from the characters, like David Mitchell's spot-on impression of Mrs. Danvers, or most of the Kids In The Hall's work... that's fine in my book.
