Hating Tony is not irrational at all. I gave up on that show because I hated Tony and Gibbs, mildly disliked Ziva, and really only liked Ducky and Abby.

Okay. I am finally going to give this a go.

....How does this even work? I feel like it's a lot more strict and takes itself a lot more seriously than Dreamwidth RP; like all of the non-fun players (who were usually quite excellent at writing for their characters, I'll give them that) went from LJ to Tumblr lol

But honestly, I can see past all that. I'm willing to push hard with my writing. It'll all be just for fun, but writing is so important to me. I feel like I've lost a lot of it, and I need to incorporate writing into what I'd consider a well-balanced life. Also, to be honest, I miss e-meeting people through RP.

Any Tumblr RPers in the house? The games and the way that players interact with one another is confusing. I see people are using icons now? Everything's changing, help D:

Tbh, it's been 20+ years since I read the book, but I seem to recall Darcy's character written such that you can see both traits equally in him, and various actors have chosen to play up one or the other. (For ex, David Rintoul's Darcy was super supercilious and openly disdainful of the Bennet family.). To me, Matthew MacFadyen's Darcy seemed like he was mostly shy and hid behind his courtesy, and the younger Bennets made him cringe in embarrassment with their gauche behavior, so he acted stiffly uncomfortable because of that, not because he was a snob who couldn't bear interacting with his lessers.

Whatever, I just loved his Darcy, okay??? :)

Oh I'm a big shipper myself so I totally get the shippy squee that goes on in fandoms, but I also get that there are people who don't care for it and I respect that and I'll do my best not to step on their toes in that regard.

But yeah being surprised by shippers seems odd, shipping is very, very commonplace. I get that it must be annoying to have it all over the place when you're not into it, I can sympathise but there's not much you can do, you can't exactly demand that people stop doing what they like because you don't like it.

Yeah trying to tell other shippers to calm down or stop being dicks... doesn't work, and this is assuming you know it's going on in the first place.

Or the fact that his name is so hard to spell.

I seriously call him "Alright, alright, alright" instead of his last name.

So when I had a RP blog, it was basically part of a group; We all followed A) Each group member and B) the actual group headquarters blog. We would plan threads with other individuals and just reply back and forth to posts that would hit upon everyone's dashboard.

That's the exact same reason I came up with it. I liked her stuff about the ship, but everything else was SJ stuff. I don't mind it, it can be interesting, but not all the time. Especially since she was always *so angry*. I'd be happily scrolling and then, bam, furious post ruining my mood. I felt guilty at first, but I couldn't take it anymore. At least now I know I'm not the only one with this problem.

Horror

I just sorta got into Lovecraft, and I've frankly been disappointed by most of the Lovecraft tribute stuff out there. The closest I've come to feeling the same has been Welcome to Nightvale or some old Twilight Zones

Basically, I'm looking for stories with ideas that are scary to think about. And if they can incorporate comedy with the fear and do it well, all the better

dances with wolves: dunbar/windinhisface or maybe dunbar/kickingbird?

It's strange; I actually already knew this, but seeing it put so simply the way you did makes me feel more comfortable with it.

I don't know why I'm so overwhelmed? I used to RP on MYSPACE back in the day, like lol

I need to thank kallanda for suggesting Broadchurch to me. I am an episode in and I am loving it. Great story, great music, and David Tennant (plus tons of other actors I sort of recognize).

Also, thanks to the person (I can't find the post) who suggested Rivers of London to me. Finished the first book and am now listening to the sequel. The whole series will keep me busy for a while!

I find the shippers who keep trying to calm everyone down even more obnoxious than the obnoxious ones. :-)

There's something so supercilious about spamming the tags with "Now, children, we all like the SAME SHOW! That means we should all be FRIENDS! Can't we all just GET ALONG? Fandom should be a place of LOVE!"

Fuck that noise. Just stay in your own lane and block people who annoy you while silently rolling your eyes at them.

That's probably accurate for a lot of things. Unfortunately a few jerks can provide a lot of negativity that ruins the whole environment.

Dunno, thanks everyone who responds to me and still submits secrets and stuff. Without you guys I'd have find a new low effort way to waste time and that'd be awful.

Well, that's a way of expressing dislike, yes.

Funny, I find the BBC miniseries barely watchable - stiff and lifeless. The 2005 movie, on the other hand, is near perfection - rich and vivid, and with a very natural feel to it.

One of my favorite movies. Lucky for me, everyone else in my life loves it too so I've always got someone to watch it with.
