First off, they've caught it early and the medication is helping, so for all intents and purposes Pratchett should be around and kicking for quite a while.

And Discworld won't ever die. After all, Mr. Pratchett is showing us specific episodes from the world, but when those episodes are over the world moves on and lives on. So long as somebody reads passages aloud to their roommate, either for their insight or their hilarity, or writes their English paper on satire and the novel with Sam Vimes and the legal/police system as an example, or simply thinks it would be hilarious to add legs to their suitcase instead of wheels, the Discworld will live on. After all, something only truly dies when it is forgotten, right?
