What mostly bothers me about cultural appropriation is that cultures merging is sort of the natural flow of societies changing and meeting (and, the must eventually, because stagnation never bodes well either).

There are signs of this happening all over history, backed by archaeological finds. there were temples that were devoted to a merging of Roman and Germanic gods, for example. Clothing, jewelry...trade and travel always influenced those fashions. It's how new languages are formed among other things. etc.

Now I understand some thing are sacred or holy, and that it might be hugely disrespectful to wear certain religious symbolism as a fashion style.

But things like hairstyle, clothes, language, food etc...I'm not buying it. To want to prevent those things from merging actually sounds bad to me, because it would involve cultural segregation.
