He's gone to countless shrinks, has a constantly changing regimen of medication, and he still isn't better. We consider it a success when he sits and watches TV all day instead of just sleeping. A diagnosis might allow someone to better understand their life, but it's not a free ticket to curesville by any means. Now, if people in fandom are treating it like that then I think you have a right to complain, but if not, I don't see how simply attaching a label to someone's issues changes or devalues their experiences in any way. They still had the same struggles, did the same thing, there's just a name for it now.
