I have the fourth edition Ars Magica handbook, plus A Winter's Tale. I absolutely love reading over them - the characters in the latter are so vivid, and even the handbook is an excellent read. The system is intriguing and really very well-designed - I love the Virtues/Flaws. Love them to pieces. And the spell descriptions! *swoon*
Unfortunately, I've never actually played it. Curse my boring roleplaying group.
