Lately I feel I am seeing a lot more wank against One Piece in general. I don't know if it's because it has been taken over by Funimation so is back in some form of limelight or if it is just because there seems to be a lot of hate for Shonen in general at the moment around the internet.
Personally I lose respect for anyone that hates One Piece. (Maybe I should have made this a secret because I am most likely going to get flamed.) Oda is my mind has captured a formula to be able to produce the first Shonen series I have ever watched that never bores me and one that I actually really like all the characters. (Even the female ones and that never happens to me with Shonen series.)
Luffy is my favorite Strawhat and I love him to a level that is probably considered stupid by most people so it really irks me when people say they hate him. He is the most positive force in my life and I owe a lot to him.
I think a lot of it is just fandom wank. Luffy is the main character for One Piece so it's probably a case of you hate the fandom you hate Luffy. Now if people claim to love One Piece but hate Luffy that will leave me as baffled as you are.
