I've given up on lots of media and the reason for all of them is boredom. I just stop caring and it seems to happen with everything I love eventually. :/

Oh, I did rage-quit the ASOIAF books when Oberyn got killed. The dumb part is that I saw it coming too but I just hated how it happened and I was like 'nope' afterwards and dropped it(but tbh I was already getting bored by then and that was the last straw that made me check out for good).

FOX News Jesus was.

And that would work if both relationships had the same showrunners. But it's not thr case.

I don't want to be unfair to OP, so here's this essay on why OP is bad and should feel bad?

eh, knowing slashy fanfic exists is one thing.

Being slapped in the face in public and asked to comment while you're being recorded and knowing that your reactions will wind up on youtube... is not the same.

Ohhh, the old "You're upset and I want to comfort you...with sex" feeling. I get this!

See, I didn't find Simm!Master any scarier than Missy, to be honest. And they were (are?) both flirty as hell with him in my opinion.

While I agree that it's a little more text than subtext with Missy that they have a history, Missy does even say to Clara (in The Magician's Apprentice) something along the lines that their relationship is more 'frenimes forever' than 'lovers', so I wouldn't say that Missy is being pushed as SO to Doctor anymore than Simm!Master was.

No, you're about to get a craving for a jelly donut.

(Just don't give any speeches in Berlin.)

I'm not sure I'd consider pharm tech or nurse's assistant low stress, tbh. Anything with patients tends to go tits up whether it's retail/doctor's office, and especially hospital.

"Also, with BBC Sherlock I kept hearing things about the actors/writers that made me less and less interested in watching."

Same. I see Season 4 just came out on Netflix and... I have no interest at all.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Homophobia isn't the fault of just the showrunner, you know.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed.

Hehe, oddly enough I stopped watching the GoT series after that.

(and here's a weird rec: if you liked the actor, he's one of the main characters in Narcos.)

Jean Descole from the Professor Layton series. Very gray, guilty as hell, but you could tell there was just something inside him that just broke. And despite practically dressing like a freaking girl, the dude has style.

Hahah, funnily enough I was thinking about that this morning (I don't know why...just random musings).

Like...he wasn't out and out evil? He's not a good guy and he did bad things but he wasn't straight up evil. Arguably some of his best 'tricks' actually ended up with the other gods making out better than they would have otherwise. Of course there was the whole Baldr thing but nobody's perfect....

But geez. His kids. Like...all of them, even the monstrous ones. His kids by Sigyn definitely didn't deserve what they got, as far as we know they were completely innocent. And what I recall about Jormungandr, Fenrir, and Hel is that actually? The gods totally tossed them out of Asgard before they actually ever did anything wrong. Sure, Fenrir bit off Tyr's hand but that was when they tricked him into imprisonment so it's not like he did it in cold blood.

I mean I guess they were like, "but prophecy says these monsters are bad news!" and it's like..."maybe it's self-fulfilling because you treated them so bad? Just maybe?"

I have a lot of Feelings on this subject, obviously. I'll stop now. :)

and (thinking of an incident from the Smallville fandom many years ago) getting a box full of sex toys from fans

I shouldn't be surprised that somebody actually did this, but...wow. Was there a specific reason they did that, and how'd the actor in question react?

I gave up on the Walking Dead this season because I was getting kind of bored and I feel like there needs to be an endgame in sight at this point. I might catch up when it's on netflix and I don't have to watch commercials though.

I gave up on Once Upon a Time because it was a convoluted mess and all the ships were so fucked up but the show was always pushing them as "true love."

Also all the "snowflake" shit makes me roll my eyes. Please, Trump is the biggest snowflake I've ever seen and they'll whine about people not showing him respect.

Jesus Christ, this.

Imagine being THIS butthurt about a child politely asking for an apology.

Re: What media did you give up on? Why?

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
I give up on pretty much everything if it goes on long enough. Once a show or a series of books/movies begins to decline markedly in quality, I'm out. Once something loses that spark or whatever that made it good in the first place, I'm just not interested in hanging around. I realize that for many fans, their loyalty to a story they cared about makes them want to stay and make the best of whatever the story gives them. And I don't judge that. But for me, my loyalty to a story I cared about makes me want to leave once the spark goes out of it.

I agree with anon above, knowing it exists and having someone hand it to you and be like, "HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS?" are two very different things.

I'm not a celeb and there are things I *know* exist in fandom but I still don't want to be confronted with them if I can avoid it.

They may not be surprised especially if it isn't their first convention, but that doesn't mean they'll be comfortable in the slightest.

We are opposites. I gave up on BBC Sherlock the show three years ago. I stayed for the fandom, and have never regretted it.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
I don't recall 12 being in mortal danger when that happened though, so different scenario all round.
