Just because you're aware doesn't mean you want to be constantly reminded of it.

OP, you should share your mixes. Shorter might make them more manageable, but share them if they're long as well. People in the fan mix community appreciate diversity! I can remember also being six of seeing the same, sometimes awful songs in fan mixes again and again (Harry/Draco fandom and your completely un-ironic, repeated use 'Bring Me To Life' despite the existence of 'My Immortal', I'm looking at you).

However, it might be good to get some perspective as well, because people also make fan mixes differently. Some try to pick songs that fit the general tone of the show while also touching on emotional notes - Psych fandom has some particularly amazing, super fun mixes like this. Other people - like you it sounds like - don't care if the overall mix is cohesive, and are more focused on the appropriateness of each individual song. And other people, like you allude to, throw together a bunch of popular songs that could vaguely be related to the emotional struggles of characters in the shows (though some of those can be fun too). It's all part of the fun of discovering new music and seeing different takes on your favourite characters.

Some people aren't going to like your mixes, or understand where you're coming from. But that's okay. Just post your mixes!

It's okay to hate anything Moffat created, because he is reverse Midas and everything he touches eventually turns to shit (unless it gets cancelled first).

There was also never anywhere that I implied a 10/Master kiss needed to happen when 10 was in mortal danger either. You're the one who brought up noncon.

Also in the history of who, there has been a hell of a lot of Doctors and quite a few masters, and yet the kiss still happened when the Master turned female.

My given name is hyphenated (feminist mom didn't wanna drop hers so me and my sister just got two names squished together) and I'm here to tell you it's a nightmare. Don't do it, people! I honestly dream of the day I have a reason to change it, i.e. marriage.

That said, Daddario certainly could be worse.

I tune in the series every so often because it's easy enough to watch, tho I will be honest his death there inspired the same NO reaction from the books even though I absolutely knew it was going to happen. The fuck self.

HELLO, REALLY. YES OKAY. My interest is piqued.

We evolved to exist in small social groups where the better you know someone, chances are the better they know you. It's not our natural, emotional reaction to assume the relationship is one-sided even when it obviously must be. It's something we know rationally, not emotionally. That's not an excuse, but it explains why some people sometimes completely fail at recognizing that the celeb doesn't know them or care about the in-jokes they have with their fandom friends.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think OP should feel that bad about those things existing, but I also kinda think you have to recognize them for what they are

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Except that nowhere did AYRT say OP is bad and should feel bad.

And it is quite possible to be self-deprecating and self-congratulatory, because OP manages it nicely. Pointing that out is not the same as saying OP is bad.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
But the secret itself is self-deprecating in a way that's also weirdly self-congratulatory.

Your whole comment is so spot on, and this bit sums the situation up perfectly.

Honestly, I think if OP had made a secret that said "Most of the fanmixes in my fandom have the same bunch of obvious pop songs. I wish people had better taste in music and tried harder," I wouldn't have agreed with them, because taste is subjective, but I actually would have been less annoyed by the secret, because at least it would have been overt and direct in what it was saying.

But then, like you said, most of us do that self-deprecating but weirdly self-congratulatory thing once in a while, I know I've certainly done it before. F!S is just particularly not having it today.

SA

I'd suggest changing it legally rather than maritally! (I mean, don't let that influence your decision to marry. Better to annoy your mom by changing your name than get married for any reason besides REALLY wanting to marry that person.)

I can sort of understand the reason behind hyphenating names, but at some point the logistics would become pretty...cumbersome...even with easy names.

I almost never watch movies, rarely start a new TV series, and I stopped reading the Dresden Files (when I didn't think I ever would) after only about five or six books.

What can I say. I've been disappointed too often, I don't have much loyalty left to give media.

Bitter, much?

Re: Should I quit my job for TEFL

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
I have TEFL certification and I haven't done jack shit with it so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But it sounds like CELTA may give more job opportunities? May as well go for it.

somebody write this ship now

No, it's not OBVIOUS BULLSHIT. Actors don't need to have your poorly written ID fic shoved in their faces. Have some class and tact.

Why?

Re: Going back to school and other options

Hi, pharmacy tech here.

If you're really serious about not having to deal with people, then you probably want to go with the data entry job. Lab tech, pharm tech and nurse assistant jobs all pretty much deal with people and the general public. But if you do want to go into a pharmacy tech job, get your PTCB certification and apply to work in a hospital. In the hospital you'll mainly have to deal with your coworkers and nurses and physicians, but you won't have to deal with the public for the most part.

WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS? Good god, some people just have no sense of social awareness.

Re: What media did you give up on? Why?

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I gave up on B99 as well for those same reasons. I doubt I'll give it another try, though.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
lol

yeah he's good (the series as a whole is good; the actor who plays Pablo Escobar is especially great). Violent series about the Columbian drug cartels wouldn't be my first choice of something to watch, but it's really grown on me.

This secret needs a fanmix. "You Belong with Me," is definitely on there.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
I have not seen the Missy episodes, but I think that, "obnoxious, smug, and grating," are in character for the Master. He's a children's show villain.

I watched maybe two episodes of season 2 of 99 and stopped, only resuming this year. It's not something I feel the need to backtrack on.
