I've heard about it through the grapevine of the internet but not what it was about exactly, but hmmm. I don't do real-world TV that often but for Pedro Pascal I may very well give it a look and see how I like it.

Criminal Minds (combo of the BTS drama, the repetitiveness of it as a serial killer procedural, the incredibly boring later series season long arcs, and an increase in my anxiety about home invasion made it not worth it anymore, even though I used to love it)

Supernatural (there are so many reasons to choose form, but the main one actually is actually that I lost interest after the apocalypse happened - where can you really go dramatically after that?)

Hawaii 5-0 (not even the true love of Steve and Danno could sustain interest in this for me)

MCU (I'll still be there for Thor 3, GOTG and the ensemble movies, but I can't actually be bothered to invest in Ant Man, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, or any of the TV shows (though I'll probably give the ensemble TV show a try). Spiderman, I'm iffy about. We'll see once reviews come out.)

What are you talking about, that is an awesome last name! I mean, it's no Killmaster, but then, what is?

No, no, feel away! I am the same. I started doing research on Loki and when you put all the stuff together, it's just a pile of unfairness. It also was a conscious change of the god over time, where he began as a trickster but then the later poem completely changed him to give a reason for his torture/imprisonment. And, at that point, I was on his side from all the shit the other gods had put him through.

I also have many feelings about him.

eh I was on the fence with her but I have grown to like her and now I want a crossover fic with PotC and she goes back in time, abducts Norrington so he doesn't die(still not over it) and brings him back to the 21st century and has her way with him.

My boyfriend has this too, to the point where I've sometimes noticed while he's holding me when I'm crying. He would never act on it while I'm upset unless I was into it, and he says he doesn't understand why, but thinks of it as part of his fierce desire to protect me and keep me safe. I think it's a lol and also kind of cute.

If you're the anon I think you are (this anon once posted a secret about their sf kind that appeared a lot in cartoons), I won't hint at your kink since you don't want to talk about it in this thread but I just want to say that I remember you! You keeping do you.

Hey, you got 2/3 right, not bad! I can spell Schwarzenegger fine because I can sound it, and I usually remember the double 'a' in Gyllenhaal, but McConaughey is just a jumble of nonsense vowels and consonants to me that have nothing to do with how the name in pronounced so I am impressed.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't have brought it up in the first place myself, but once you've started talking about it, you can't just pretend that's not what's going out of politeness or whatever. That'd be dishonest. And I personally reckon, even within yourself, self-knowledge is a necessary thing on some level.

And anyway, like I say, it's really not that bad and I really genuinely believe that OP is a lovely person. Having a flaw isn't the end of the world. But when someone points out a flaw, and the flaw does exist, I don't think the reasonable thing to do is to say "no you're wrong that flaw doesn't exist".

I was just thinking that it has a lot in common with GoT.

1. Complex world and characterizations
2. Gut-wrenching politics
3. The Really Good & Noble People don't live long
4. Astonishingly abrupt violence
5. Some fairly hot sex scenes

Overall, more cocaine and 1980s outfits, less dragons and rape. About the same number of brothel scenes.

Just finished Season 1. Pedro's character is great (my favorite, in fact).

nayrt - I didn't read it that way. The anon ayrt was replying to seemed stuck on the idea that it's not possible to be elitist if you were being self-deprecating and that isn't really true. Elitism isn't necessarily about feeling superior because you have legitimately superior qualities, it's about feeling superior because you believe certain qualities superior - which is fine distinction, but an important one.

This idea isn't uncommon in geek culture. It may have started off as an outcast thing before it transformed into the popular mainstream thing it is today, but we can't deny that there's a segment of geek culture that took pride in being on the fringe. They did it in a more extreme way than the secret does, but it's pretty similar - by belittling what's popular and implying that they were better because they weren't blindly following the crowd. The extreme extreme end of this are fedora wearing atheists and red pillers, BTW.

Now, the secret isn't that rude about it and I don't agree at all with the anons who are calling OP names. But the sentiment is definitely present and it's something the OP may want to watch out for. Feeling isolated and afraid of not fitting in is terrible... but getting so lost in that "everyone is different than me" mindset will only exacerbate that, and stumbling into the "not like other girls" mindset tends to make someone more bitter and alone, not less.

There are tons of girls and women in fandom who like eclectic music, who put effort and thought into works that aren't widely recognized, who like coffee and t-shirts and don't wear pretty dresses or have perfect hair or whatever. I'd argue they outnumber the people on the left side of OP's secret, but they're not always very vocal so it's easy to underestimate just how many of them (of us!) there are.

The whole point of "not like other girls" is that sometimes women get into this mindset where they believe they're special, but "other girls" aren't for whatever reason. That's not true, and it's quite toxic thinking. Those "other girls" are, in fact, just like you. So what I'm saying is the opposite. OP shouldn't feel bad about the things in their secret. But they should realize that they're not as alone as they seem to think.

I got SUPER lucky on McConaughey. No fucking idea how I did that.

What skills would say are required to be a pharmacy tech?

Re: What media did you give up on? Why?

I've lost my hype for the MCU for sure. I'm still mostly seeing all the movies but I'm slow to do it. I'm not keeping up with any of the tv shows at all though.

I think I could have kept my hype if there were proper X-men since they are my favs, but since they're owned by FOX that can't happen.

As a hospital pharm tech, some of the nurses are WORSE than the patients, in my experience. The great nurses are amazing and we need more of them, the shitty ones make me want to bang my head against things many times a day.

I don't remember, tbh. Though that would kind of make it worse if she'd slept with him while he was still a knowingly sleazy drug dealer...

idk if it's that weird, honestly. Just looking at fandom it's clear a lot of chicks are turned on by variations of hurt/comfort stuff. Maybe sympathy boners are just the guy version of that?

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Not everyone rage quits a show because one aspect of it bothers them. I don't think that's particularly unusual. It'd be weirder if everyone loved their fandoms and never had a single issue or problem with anything.

I gave up on Vampire Knight because it was going in a really weird direction that I didn't like.

Wow, I didn't realize fandom was so full of Missy haters. I adore her, and I'm delighted to see her coming back. I'm also delighted to see that Simm!Master is on the menu, but I'm happiest about Missy.

Doctor Who really is overflowing with people who hate, hate, hate. I suspect I'll finally leave the fandom once Capaldi is gone, because I'll be in fannish mourning and I really won't want to read all the "Thank God! Good riddance!" bullshit. Every single NuWho Doctor has given me pleasure, but Capaldi is my favorite, my forever Doctor, and I'm glad that Missy was his Master.

In short, :(

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Simms was an annoying, gimmicky asshole, tho

He didn't seem threatening at all to me

Yeah, for all my dropping out of MCU I did rematch Civil War recently and couldn't help thinking how much better it would have been if they'd been able to do the comic story with X-men. They did a decent job reworking it for an X-menless universe, but it was still kind of a 'what might have been' feeling.

That said, I am here for FOX continuing their vein of making awesome R-rated X-men movies. Logan and Deadpool have been a refreshing alternative to the bland samey-ness of the MCU (and a welcome antidote to the desperate banality of the DCU so far).

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
I don't agree with your secret. I don't think the scene gives us reason to question Meredith's ability to consent. And it bothers me when people are too black-and-white on the whole drinking/consent issue, because I think it's detrimental to the ongoing and very important consent/rape culture conversation. People become understandably annoyed when you tell them that the multiple instances of thoroughly consensual sex they've had while mildly drunk were actually rape, or simply were Not Okay.

That said, I actually do agree with what you're saying in this comment. I find the whole "playing hard to get" trope annoying most of the time, and while I don't feel that it's inherently problematic, the tremendous prevalence of it is.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-16 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
I don't even agree with your secret, OP, but the person you're talking to plainly has some pretty crap opinions and is not worth your time.
