FWIW, this makes sense to me.

I mean, I'm basically ace myself, but this kind of scenario is something I find erotic as fuck in fanfic. (Don't worry, it has to be my OTP; I will not now be wanking to thoughts of you and your friend. :P)

Maybe you should take that up with the GAY writer/show runner. But except for the death scene it would have been pretty heavily noncon, and I think the Master having his way with prisoner!Doctor wouldn't have been well regarded.

I don't understand how you could enjoy this show at all if this bothers you so much? Everyone's common sense comes second to the demands of whichever good-intentioned conspiracy they're apart of. It's ridiculous at all times. The sex with Blaine thing was stupid, yes, but at least they didn't drag it out and make it more than it needed to be. My biggest issue was how quickly Clive, the one sensible person left, got dragged into the ridiculousness at the end of season 2. But I'll get over it.

Missy making out with 12 could also be taken that way though? She essentially just attacked him before he even knew who she was. I don't get how that has anything to do with what this thread is about.

I gave up on The Walking Dead this last season. The first reason was Negan. I love JDM but I can't stand how he plays that character. The more important reason was how they structured episodes. I can't stand how they only focus on one group per episode.

I gave up on Ori and the Blind Forest because I got stuck on one level for hours. I was no good at using Bash.

Comic!Magneto: granted the writers can completely fuck up sometimes but for the most part he's been one of the most complex and compelling villains they've ever done. I can understand why he has the motivations that he does even if I think he does go way too far with his actions.

Comic!Loki: Movie Loki is a lot of fun and Hiddles does well with what he's given but for me the absolute dickbaggery that was comic!Loki is still my fave version of him. Like he was so downright vicious and awful and the worst unreliable narrator in existence, his scheming was fun to watch too.

Cersei from GoT: She's an absolutely awful human being but my god do I love watching her cause havoc and generally be The Worst person ever. I wish an absolutely horrible death on her but I'm gonna enjoy watching her fuck things up until that point.

Maleficent: This one is mostly because she turns into a giant fuck-off dragon and I like dragons, but I also just like her aesthetic and general evil swagger, even if she isn't terribly complex. She's fun.

I think it's mostly due to these fans not understanding that while they talk and think about the actor with other fans like the actor is a friend of theirs, the actor...doesn't actually know them. The actor might seem like a cool person in interviews and like someone who you could be buds with IRL and would totally be cool with goofy stuff like fanfiction and (thinking of an incident from the Smallville fandom many years ago) getting a box full of sex toys from fans, but....you know, they're not actually your friend and they don't know you and you are imagining a familiarity and intimacy which is not really there.

And they probably do understand that on an intellectual level, but put them in a group with other fans, and the collective level of Common Sense and Good Boundaries in the group goes way down, and then you have the Sex Toy Incident on your hand.

And yet drunk young men are the ones getting hit with prosecutions where their drunk girlfriends are having day after guilts.

Just because a show runner or writer is gay, it doesn't mean that they aren't capable of fucking up in that regard or in the very least towing the line when the higher ups tell them they can't do something (which is often the case in family programming.) Plus we're talking about two different eras here, and the second one is under a straight showrunner.

I don't ship Master/Doctor for the record, but I'm sure a lot of people who do know there's always a level of fucked up that goes with it. Missy kissing 12 was also not consensual, so your point falls flat there.

Books - A friend tried to get me to read Twilight way back when it first came out but I couldn't get past like 20-30 pages before giving up because the writing was so awful. The only other book I've ever given up on was this sci-fi one where there's this alien race that has sex by touching their hands together and there's something about a magical fountain, and the main characters end up getting trapped in the 1400s at the end. I skipped ahead to find out how it ended, but it was horrrrrible.

TV - Bones, Criminal Minds, Chicago Fire, The Great Indoors, Chicago Justice, and I'm sure way more that I'm totally forgetting at the moment.

I'm close to giving up on the other two Chicago shows and Law & Order: SVU depending on how the season ends/which characters end up staying/leaving. And I'm glad this is the last season of Pretty Little Liars or I'd probably be giving up on it too.

I love Loki in Norse mythology, and I actually feel really bad for him. They had his one kid tear apart his other kid and tied him up with the kid's intestines for basically insulting people. I mean, he's a dick, but he doesn't do nearly as bad a stuff as other gods in other religions.

I gave up a whole bunch of shows last year, mostly because I don't have time to watch.

The only show I gave up for plot-reasons was The Mentalist right after Patrick shot that guy in public and it wasn't Red John and he got away with it. Fuck that.

Which is stupid because both of them have equal responsibility if they were both drunk.

I understand wanting to bring particularly good fanfic to the attention of the writers of a thing. Not that I would ever do so myself, because it's still super awkward and weird. But I get the impulse.

However, I don't understand it at all when it comes to the actors.

Me too on the first two. Also, with BBC Sherlock I kept hearing things about the actors/writers that made me less and less interested in watching.

Brooklyn Nine Nine I really like though. It took me awhile to get into at first but now it's one of my favorite comedies.
