Re: Things you love that have horrible fandoms

Star Wars Rebels fandom is flat out awful, but it's more quietly awful in a Stepford Wives sort of way. It seems very calm and pleasant on the surface, but heaven help you if you speak up about something that goes against fanon. There are very strict rules and they must be obeyed.

Still some of my favourite episodes, especially the one with the 13th day of the 13th month quote and the "Just Don't Look" song about the adverts.

Yeah. I sort of cringe when I see Stucky stuff and Clintasha. For some reason it seems like shippers who feel like their stuff could have been canon and were then denied are more aggro than people who accept that it's entirely fanon. Like as much as people ragged on Clint/Coulson as a whitecock ship I don't remember them ragepooping at AoU anywhere near as much as Clintasha. So the pre-movie teasing about how the movie(s) revolved around Steve and Bucky's love, and then the "No homo though, we mean brotherly love" means a lot of Stucky fans tend to be bitter and angry and weird.

So why not go on about dogs and cats? For some reason it's birds that get this.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-17 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it didn't make sense.

Oh lord, I'm a diehard Ferguson fan.

(I also know the exact moment I fell in love with him: I happened to catch a bit where he said that someone "was rear-ended by Orlando Bloom" and he said, with a wicked grin, "And haven't we all had THAT fantasy?")

NAYRT, but even if they're hatched in captivity, pet parrots are genetically the same as wild parrots, with the same instincts and needs. They haven't been selectively bred to make them suited for life as pets.

For my money I'd say Andy Richter is the best sidekick on late night. He consistently adds to the humor, helps the guests, and makes Conan look better as a host.

I love things that have silliness surrounding them but play the central concept (in this case, the words and Homer actually being haunted/terrified) straight. It's just a combination I really enjoy. I'll forever hear 'Take thy BEAK from out my heart, and take thy FORM from off my door!” if I read the poem. (And 'eat my shorts' 'BART!')

50 Shades. The hype made it sound like the greatest erotic/romance novel of our time, and it was so stupid and so boring. Only time I've literally tossed a book over my shoulder in apathy.

I don't think so

(Anonymous) 2017-05-18 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
yep, this. it doesn't really sink in till you have one for a while, i think. :(

I've noticed Capaldi's accent is much thicker this year.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-18 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Uh because the secret is about birds?

I go on about cats and dogs when it's relevant. Besides, I've realized as a vegan that I have to be strategic about how I bring things up. Most people hate the idea that I'm against the domestication of cats and dogs but some can be persuaded to at least agree that birds should not be domesticated. If I can get them to see where I'm coming from with birds then it's easier to get people to extend that belief towards other animals too.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-18 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, it looks like they're talking about how they're sad and regretful about getting an undomesticated bird that isn't really meant to be cooped up in a human house for the entirety of their lives. Not sure what's hard to understand about that.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-18 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Any suggestions then?

(Anonymous) 2017-05-18 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Lmao I love this comment.
