Re: What is your favorite fandom wank?

My favorite was always when authors complained about fanfiction. I remember the Diana Gabaldon one especially fondly because it was the only one I watched unfold as it was happening. I think I still have screencaps of some of the blog posts she deleted somewhere.

I was bawling by the end of My Sister's Keeper, and so mad at the whole stupid story. But I was even more pissed when they changed it in the movie. >:(

Ah. I totally get that since all the shipping wank in that fandom is way too close for me to find funny. I was massively in the fandom, but I never actually read her fics.

Canons, characters, pairings, whatever.

No one cares. When things go wrong, I remind myself that most people won't even notice and if they do, it's highly unlikely to be anything that they'll remember. People are into themselves. I remind myself how little I remember what's going on with random people I meet.

If something stressful is coming up, I usually think that this time tomorrow the thing will be over (or this time next week, it'll be over and won't matter any more).

I'm always going to have a soft spot in my heart for the FF7 House. Mostly because I knew people who were very similar, and I was lucky to dodge getting pulled into their nonsense, haha.

That first thing is one of the best things I ever taught myself. I hardly ever feel embarrassed anymore. I just laugh at myself and move on and the world moves on too.

I've had this problem with Doctor Who since Capaldi started.

I HATED the book ending. I thought the movie was way better.

Supernatural. Well, not as into it as I used to be. But still love seasons 1-5. The fandom is awful.

Several of my fandoms used to be awful (Harry Potter, Buffy, ATLA), but things seem to have died down somewhat and the fandoms seem pleasant now.

Star Wars can be awful, depending on the part of the fandom. Some parts are super elitist and judge you if you don't fandom the exact way they do.

Star Wars fans can be some of the most elitist I've ever come across. I've seen every movie plus the animated shows, read over a dozen of the books, and played KOTOR, and I still have trouble calling myself a Star Wars fan.

I was going to say Anne Rice's "Witching Hour" but "Flowers in the Attic" is worse.

Yeah, the stuff that really bothers me is the stuff with like 13 and younger. Or toddlers/babies. That stuff is disgusting.

Yup. I love all of Star Wars pretty much, and depending on the fan group, I'm not a real fan for liking the Prequels, for liking the EU, for liking The Force Awakens, for liking the tv shows, or even for liking the OT better than the Prequels. And then there is shipping. And which characters are better than others and why you are objectively wrong for preferring the other characters. I avoid the fandom other than to read fics.

Anime fandom has always been pretty horrible. I should never have been surprised I met endless amounts of toxic people in it, but I was young when I first got into it.

I still watch stuff here and there and draw fanart sometimes, but I try to not go deep into anime fandom anymore.

My boyfriend once told me I'm really good at history cos I was telling him basic details about a bunch of historical figures/stories, but most of the stuff I'd picked up from Simpsons adaptations haha. And I agree with you, OP, this is one of my favourite adaptations too.

The first book in the House of Night series. I read it cover to cover, but some of it was very quick skimming. It was almost so bad it was good, but only almost.

It really is one of the better enactments. I was just thinking about this the other day too.

Steven Universe.

Some shitty SW stuff leaks onto my dashboard but I mostly stay awy.

Yep.

Especially when you're in IT. One day you're the devil, the next, why did we even hire you, everything works great.

The Lovely Bones, I read the whole thing because my aunt gave it to me and I was trying to be nice, but I hated it...

The first one doesn't work for me because I remember small things people have done wrong that they probably tell themselves most people have forgotten.
