I usually make my own icons because I like doing it. I'm not half as good as a lot of other icon-makers, but it's satisfying for me to put an icon together to my thoughts and my mood with my ideas, and then use it for myself. I do use other people's icons, I just generally prefer making my own because it's fun and is a good feeling when I'm done.
