The OP isn't saying there weren't female characters in Pixar films. But you can't say that any of those were the main character, nor did they have roles that aren't "expected" of girls.

1. Good little housewife and mother. Tries to keep her children out of trouble. Only becomes any sort of badass near the end of the movie. Who is the movie really about? Mr. Incredible.

2. Yes, she's pretty awesome, but she doesn't do much except be the female counterpart to Woody and sing a song about how she once had a girl and lost it so she's content to be in some fat guy's collection. It wasn't her story anyway. It was Woody's adventure away from his nice safe room.

3. Actually gets out there and tries to overcome her own personal problem and the dangers of the ocean to help some guy she doesn't even know find his kid. (But the story still wasn't about HER.)

Which would you rather have as a role model?
