It would be entirely RETARDED then. Coming from a girl's point of view - a female L would ruin the series. Then there would be so many sexual tension tones between L and Light because the series wouldn't hold back because of any sort of homosexual tones in a workplace setting in the story. And let's face it - weird, quirky, messy, savant men are far more acceptable than women of that category. I like the Death Note series, but had L been a woman.. I never would have read it :/
