The Matrix introduces and incorporates many key concepts in philosophy, including Descartes' evil demon problem, existentialism vs. nihilism, and a number of different perspectives on free will. If their introduction seems entry-level to you, it is because this trilogy was designed to make these concepts accessible to modern, generalized audience. Sure, these ideas have been done before, but it was their accessibility that made The Matrix as brilliant as it was.
