I may have even liked PGSM better than the anime.

I just have to say, I thought I was going to be the only one who liked it more than the anime. Fandom would go mad over that. And the Dark Mercury arc was definitely one of my favourite parts.

Saying only Asians can cosplay is so elitist, and pretty dumb, imho. If you want to be purist, then (to use one of the OP's examples) an Asian can't cosplay most of the characters from FMA (or any other obviously non-ethnically-Japanese series).
The best, and most convincing FMA cosplayers I've seen were all non-Asian.
