153. I have depression and struggle with self-harm urges often. (When I have to, I pop a rubber band around my wrist and snap it, which hurts without doing any damage.) There's a huge amount of ignorance about self-harm, resulting in the attitude that people do it just to get attention or be trendy or because they're weak and worthless. House cutting himself presents a completely different picture: a tough, heroic (if screwed up) figure doing it because he's in unbearable pain.

101. I pretended that Bella was an as-yet-undiagnosed schizophrenic, and that all of her interactions with Edward and the Cullens were just psychotic delusions. The books are not only 1000x more lolariously entertaining that way, they also make 1000x more sense. Where narrative logic fails, it's easy to just fill in the blanks with, "Oh, Bella's insane, that's all."

169. When I was ten, I saw the play for the first time. When I got home, I decided my new Pretend game would be to pretend that I was the Phantom's friend and lived with him (I was too young to think of romance at the time, and anyway, I wanted him to get Christine). I figured he needed a name, because his friend couldn't just call him Phantom, so I randomly decided on Erik.
When we watched the old movie in class a few months later, I freaked the heck out. I'm still sure this makes me a sooper special snowflake in some way.
