133. Kudos for talking about Maus at all. But really...? Nazi fetish? I mean, I hate to sort of prove you right for keeping this a secret--but it is literally the best piece of work about the Holocaust I've read in any genre (and I've read many, and many of them I love)...but...the cats? I mean...no. You are diminishing Spiegelman's genius and the Holocaust, all together...

163. I like how in the pregnant Bella one, Rosalie is sketchily staring from the background. Also they are all incredibly cruddy. A lot of manips are bad though.

I know all of Vincenzo's stuff well and pretty much everything David Hewlett's been in so it combines to form a great knowledge.

Yeah, it has a really unhealthy connotation to it in my mind. :/ Besides, I don't think people should want to lose weight for anything other than themselves.

Oh no, no, *no*. Can't agree with that at all. Have you *seen* Andrew Lloyd Webber?! :¬O

123 so, like, I totally don't have the time to search for/watch a lot of obscure anime. I watch what I like and what's convenient to find, and stuff that's visually flashy. My friends aren't into the kind of anime I watch anyways (if they're into anime at all), I don't get even the more popular stuff on recommendation. I read a lot more manga, that's more my scene, and I have a good chunk of obscure stuff on my hds. But I don't really advertise it and I don't really care what my friends read, it's their decision.

If it's that big of a deal to you (and you're not a troll) maybe you should chillax a bit and stop watching a shit ton of anime, because you're taking this shit way too seriously. D;

137. I don't have a hand fetish, but I'm starting to suspect that one of my characters does. Weird, eh?

142. Hugs for you. Don't worry, I'm only neutral toward her! ...uh, and my birthday is June 30. :3

103. Awesome. “Proust in his first book, wrote about, wrote about…”
106. Eh, people have food fetishes.
112. That’s awesome for you.
117. AWESOME. Also 103/117=OTP.
123. I can see why, but some of those series are popular because they’re good.
139. I agree for the most part. Guys can get off god-moding more easily than women can.
142. You have a lot of courage for your opinion.
155. ME TOO.

It's... it's hard. Being inspired by something will only get you started. I am inspired by a lot of shows, and a lot of characters. But I am still a lazy person. Inevitably I'll pick up some habit, or trait that I admire in a character and try to incorporate it into my life, and for a while things get better. But if you find yourself still stagnating in your every day life, then you're going to have to push yourself to take that first step. It's not easy, but you can do it. :( Nothing that's worthwhile is easy, and inspiration does not mean that suddenly the skies open and a holy light shines down. It means it shows you what you need to do next. The rest is up to you.

Anyone would win against the she-elf thing, dude. She'd faint during the battle or something.

Auw, I don't know why people don't like her. Her story fits perfectly well with the style of Sailor Moon. Personally, I've always loved stories about her and the Amazon Quartet/Asteriod Senshi fighting various forms of evil and darkness in Crystal Tokyo. ^_^

163. Oh God the one on the bottom left ahahahahahahaasdfghjkl MY EYES, THEY BURN

110 - KENSHIN SECRET!!! :D

142 - People actually hate Chibiusa? O_o

[identity profile] velvet-mace.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
102) I can see how they'd both appeal. As long as you scrupulously don't think too hard about either of those series, they hold up pretty well as emotional rollercoasters. It's just when you allow yourself a "Wait a minute, but..." moment you realize all the problems.

104) Well that certainly isn't his most attractive picture, but Fugliest? I've shipped waaaay fuglier.

123) LOL WUT? What a incredibly shallow reason to dislike people. I mean seriously, not everyone is out to impress others with how well rounded an anime geek they are. They may have other things than anime they enjoy spending their time on.

138) That picture looks shopped to me.

139) I wish people would figure a way to say "This character just doesn't hit my sweet spots" in a way that isn't insulting to people who love the character. It seems to me a lot of times the "sue" excuse is just grasping for a logical reason to explain an illogical emotional dislike.

[identity profile] master-kogane.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd be delighted, even though I'm already critically eying my remaining, how do say? lulz-icons. *sips tea*

[identity profile] blackbubbletea.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
161. At this point in the show, nothing that happens is for no reason. In addition, the stakes continue to be raised. If every time someone "died," it turned out that they could be cloned or that it was only a diabetic coma, that would make me lose respect for them. I think this is one of the qualities that sets VB apart from most of the other Adult Swim shows. People change; people die. I predict that this will be the event that causes 21 to actually become a more fleshed out character, and who knows where it'll go from there.

They love their fans. I have never been in a fandom in which the creators are that involved with the fans. 24 didn't die in vain. It wasn't just some cheap gag, because they care more about their characters than that.

YAY CHIBIUSA! <3

I love her too. *_*

Re: 102

[identity profile] vivalanaomi.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Writing isn't just being creative, or thought-provoking. It's hours of work. And not always fun, seemingly productive work. It's going back over sentences and trying to pick out the clichés, or trying to frame a scene in a truer way (which is pretty hard since everything is basically coming from somewhere. Nothing is written from a vacuum). Thinking that you are somehow naturally better than successfully published authors is also precisely the wrong attitude to take, because part of being a writer means having to be open to improvement. And what seems like an improvement for some might be a step backwards for others.

The whole thing sounds exhausting, really. And I'm mostly basing this off what I've learned from writers, as my most intense experience so far has been the excruciating (for me) task of completing my thesis. That was only about 50 pages!
