Says the person who has literally no idea how fandom works. It is like my grandma trying to commentate on internet things.

The only reason I objected (in the theater) was because I had to pee very badly and every time I thought it was over, it just. kept. going. :D

It would be great if he would stop reverting back to that character at the beginning of every movie.

Yes! I don't get people who complain bitterly about stuff like that. It's perfectly okay to have fun, fluffy, ridiculous stuff! There's plenty of angst to go around.

He ... didn't read LotR very closely, did he? Gandalf did change between White and Grey. He came back bigger, more aloof, more the Maiar than the humble wizard he'd been/seemed before. A creature as much at home commanding kings as sitting in a hobbit hole, which we didn't really see in Gandalf the Grey. He also, I always thought he came back more determined to get the job finally done and go home.

And there's a bit of a difference in context of the resurrections as well. Iluvatar and the Valar aren't the distant, capricious, ambiguously-real gods of Westeros. I mean, Gandalf knew them personally. Before his resurrection. The death was a massive gamble, but he at least knew and trusted what was waiting for him on the other side if he made it there. He came back tired and changed and having faced death and despair, but he also came back having been reassured in his purpose by beings he knew.

I was so surprised by how much I fell in love with Captain Marvel. I thought I'd have fun, but god damn was that a satisfying movie.

Wow. So if you somehow manage to come back from a horrible (but heroic) death, you can only come back changed for the *worse*?

Fuck that.

Not necessarily evil, Beric wasn't evil, and I doubt Jon will be either.

Lady Stoneheart is vengeful, but she's only going after the people responsible for her and her family's murder.

I ADORED Lucky 13, but I always had a huge thing for 'if you look out for the ship, the ship looks out for you'. The whole ending to that had me in bits.

(Anonymous) 2019-03-26 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
This is completely anecdotal but when I was a kid I would only watch shows with kids that were older than me because I thought older kids were cooler. Maybe that's a popular enough sentiment that it attracts audience?

(Anonymous) 2019-03-26 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, everything I said was correct, so. You mad?

(Anonymous) 2019-03-26 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Not necessarily, Beric isn't evil.

Satisfying is the perfect word for it. It was just genuinely enjoyable and fun.

(Anonymous) 2019-03-26 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Putting aside the fact that GOT is NOT great, I just don't understand the mindset that they will do the exact same things with every creative project they work on. Certainly, there might be some similarities or preferences, but presumably they're professionals who know that media are not one-size-fits-all.

THIS THIS THIS THIS. CW didn't even need to fucking happen, it could have totally been a Cap movie *without* all that stupi shite, and the accords, blah blah.

If they *had* to have CW - which i think they just did for the fun of making the Avengers fight each other - it should have been an Avenger's movie, not a Cap movie.

(Anonymous) 2019-03-26 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. It tied everything up very nicely and I appreciate that because it really felt like an ending.

(Anonymous) 2019-03-26 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Keep in mind GRRM is talking about he felt reading it as a thirteen year old.

1 million percent agree.
nightscale: Stitch with a guitar (Disney: Stitch)

[personal profile] nightscale 2019-03-26 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not bitter about this, it doesn't fill me with seething resentment every time I think about CW and how it wasn't a Cap movie AT ALL.

(Anonymous) 2019-03-26 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Shhh, shhh, it's okay, Tony stan, go back to writing more bitter IronStrange fic where you treat that evil Steve like shit, you'll feel much better.

[personal profile] tabaqui 2019-03-26 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
There's a lot of 'happy families' fic out there, which i love.

Lucky 13 kicked ass. Poussey!!
(That is me being too lazy to look up the marvelous actor who played the pilot. I mostly just know her from Orange is the New Black.)
nightscale: Starbolt (Marvel: Captain America)

It's not like they even needed a Good reason to separate them either, just have them both be busy, that'd be enough.

(Anonymous) 2019-03-26 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Uhh... how exactly is it going to drive them out for good?

I mean, if he dies I figure there'll be oodles of fix-it fic, AUs, posts about how he didn't deserve it or about how heroic his death was...

Or am I missing the obvious and you are talking about something completely different?

(genuinely curious, I swear)

(Anonymous) 2019-03-26 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
He has the same cocky attitude, but he's trying to help people. That's not the same as profiting off of weapons.
