But honestly, I gotta say that OP has a point... some pairings are popular for the simple reason that they strike a chord in a lot of people as opposed to the fewer fans of more obscure pairings. Perhaps it can sting a little when you find out that the majority of fandom does not share your viewpoint, or they are vocal about something you disagree with, but at least in these matters...
