I feel like that's absolutely where your relationship is at, nonny! Another writer I used to admire from afar commented on my fics, so I started commenting on more of her works, which led to her commenting on more of my fics... We aren't BFFs forever right now, but we are friends + chat often on Tumblr, so I say put yourself out there. I know it's scary, but I think it will be worth messaging them (if you haven't already).
