All the kids (both good and bad) got things too easily. You had teenagers (and younger) who could out-fight, out-plan, and out-manipulate highly skilled adults. Aang is no more guilty of this than any other character. And at least he had a good reason to be so skilled--he has centuries of experience in his subconscious, in the form of the previous Avatars.
