Another person who hates calling canon characters Mary Sues, yay. I think of a Mary Sue as a character who not only has some unrealistic speshul thing, but doesn't fit well into the universe of canon because of it. If they're a part of the canon universe from the beginning, how can they not fit well into it? There are badly written characters, but they can't be misfits into a universe they were created for in the first place.
