BINGO! Ahiru wasn't selfless about the Mytho thing. She did it because it made her feel better and less lonely. In a way, she did exactly the same Rue and Fakir did, while she began more selfless (as a duck), the story "corrupted" her. The first one to let go is Rue (ironically), then comes Fakir (when he rushes to help Ahiru) and, finally, Ahiru.
