My roommate says I need a stun gun, but a) they're illegal here and b) I'd probably electrocute myself with it.
He was a young black guy and I'm a middle aged white lady, so there's no way I'm calling the cops so they can waste resources hunting innocent men who happen to be black and within a ten-mile radius, but I honestly was hoping I was old and fat enough to be invisible to creeps. The last time this happened to me was in 2008, and it's always happened in daylight before.
So far the pattern has been catcalling: groups of young white dudes, "nice tits!": solo old white dudes, catcalling and propositioning followed by vile insults or bottles thrown at me when I ignore them or laugh: solo young white dudes, everything from just creepy to sincere but disturbing flirting: latino dudes, groping and stalking: black dudes (and other white cis women.) I'm ace and sometimes I wonder if I would have been bi instead if I had any positive sex-adjacent interactions to counteract all the fucked up shit.
