Hm, I thought there was a party for the first HP movie, but I have to confess that I wasn't paying all that much attention to things like that at the time. So I could just be inventing crap.

The only thing I'll ever understand about it is the way people are making money offa it. The fans and series itself I stay well away from.

Yup...HP did get release parties at Borders. I dropped in on one once, OotP I think. 'Course, since it was only 9 pm, it was still mostly kiddie stuff going on.

Out of curiosity, how does fandom feel about Lana? (I'm guessing everybody loves Clarke and Lex? :|)

Fandom hates Lana to a disproportionate degree; she gets at least as much flak as Lois from fandom at large, probably more.

Also, I've noticed a lot of hate for Clark: people will quite openly own up to hating him because he's not in love with their character of choice, and it's more than acceptable to say quite vitriolic things about him in public. Naturally everyone thinks Lex of the "tragic fall" is awesome.

Paddy and Keith were worryingly adorable. Robert was just fabulous.
