Games thread!

I'm in couple of (small, video game) fandoms where these are still a thing - you might want to check out Neocities if you haven't already.

I'd like this too OP, especially with modern budgets. Though it'll be hard for anyone to equal Jeremy Brett as Holmes, some modern editing and pacing would be a plus too.

Me too, OP, me too. I miss the days of web forums too.

There was so much less drama.

In general I kinda don't see the point.

And I also think that most historical period pieces being made right now aren't very good and definitely aren't very well-suited to Holmes. Like, I'm imagining a Sherlock Holmes series being made with the same overall vibe and tone of the recent Poirot movies, or the recent Agatha Christie adaptations and the Ipcress File adaptation and stuff like that, and... I kinda think that would be awful.

I find Biblical history fascinating, but I definitely don't trust a lot of "documentaries" on it, lol. And the Bible Codes are some fun whack shit.

I've had a couple of forums over the year but they never got more than 7 or so members, all of whom were my friends. Trying to promote them sucks to cause not many people use them anymore.

+1

Biblical history can be fascinating but I barely trust even a lot of *written* sources on it, and I definitely don't trust History Channel-level documentaries on anything remotely controversial.

I'm considering making a neocities website again to host my fics on, does anyone know if you're able to upload PDF files to your site on there?

They're great as a concept but there also is a reason that everyone decamped from webrings and forums to social media: it is 1,000,000 times easier to find people and communities on social media than it is on webrings and forums.

Even stuff like modern Discords, which provide some of the same functionalities as forums used to, seem to rely on social media to spread the word and have people learn about them.

Oh, I love all of those kinds of things but only in book form - not so much a fan of documentaries. I used to spend my lunches in the university library reading stuff from the Religious History shelves, its absolutely fascinating how things shift and change, often from sensible and practical to pointless and damaging thanks to changing tjmes and biased or bad translators, and how we don't typically think about questions like who tf wrote the Gospels anyway?

Social media killed the livejournal star

Seconding. Small video game fandoms, obscure old OVA, ancient j-fashion, webrings, 88x31 buttons? Yeah, go Neocities.
