It does suck, OP. That happened to me when I did a Secret Santa in 2015. Seven years later, though, it's my most-liked fic with 1200 kudos, which takes a lot of the sting out of it. Small comfort to you right now, but I bet your fic will mean a lot to and be enjoyed by a lot of other people. (... Having said that, you're probably in like a microfandom or something, in which case, quality is more important than quantity?)

One year I didn't comment comment on my yuletide gift. I liked it! And I commented on some other things! But I was having a bad depressive episode that christmas and i felt like my gift needed, you know, a good comment, an attentive and detailed comment, and I didn't have the energy, and the longer it had been the more I psyched myself out about it. I still feel a little bad about that.

Anyway, maybe they didn't love your fic. Or maybe they're just going through some weird shit and it's not obvious online. It still sucks not to have your efforts acknowledged by your giftee, but hopefully my secret shame helps you feel like it's not anything you did wrong.

I'm the opposite really. I viewed the one on the left with the same visceral reaction as seeing little kids dressed up for beauty pageants. I can ignore the one on the right more (but not all) because if you stretched out the limbs, it would be indistinguishable from an older anime character. The one on the left has a face that looks neotenous.

Hey, sorry you're going through this. There was a time in the past when the trolling on f!s was bad enough to make me leave for years. Lately I've noticed similar trolling and viciousness going on, so I'm saddened that this is making people leave here, but I understand.

While I don't have merch, I've watched the movies and would do so again, and I'm no kid or parent. You don't need a reason to enjoy something that isn't harming anyone or anything else... no matter what anyone says.
