Is there any actually good Wicked slash around, though? I couldn't seem to find anything that stood out particularly. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places?
I came to FS from 4chan, and I was pleased to find that not everyone on the internet becomes a horrible, rude, cruel and foul-mouthed monster when they become anon.
This anon meme made me realize otherwise. I wish I hadn't looked. :\
If you think Sharia law is purely religious than you're an idiot and should actually do some fucking research before you try to use it to support your arguments. People call Sharia religious, but even as a purely Muslim practice it is heavily derived from Arabic culture, and in the international places where it is applied it is influenced nearly as much by local culture as by the written Koran and Sunnah. In fact many 'Sharia' laws are sexist or abusive to extents directly contradicted by the Koran, and others simply have little to know textual basis.
Also, tribalism in Africa and the Middle East is linked to religion. The fact that tribal religious worship has been mostly overwhelmed by monotheism does not change the fact that it existed and still has a huge impact on the cultural evolution of those peoples.
Seriously, you can't argue religion and culture are wholly separate things. It just doesn't fucking work.
Although I haven't seen any, I know what you mean. Just reading this thread made me feel nauseous for the rest of the day. I can't fucking stand this world sometimes.
For as long as he can remember, Takashi has been cursed by the ability to see spirits, a power inherited from his grandmother Reiko. Upon her death, Reiko bequeaths to her grandson several of her belongings - including the Book of Friends, a book containing the names of spirits Reiko had bullied into servitude. The Book of Friends is a highly prized item in the spirit world, and spirits hound Takashi constantly. Whereas Reiko formed the contracts, however, Takashi spends his time dissolving the contracts and releasing the various spirits that come to him for help. But that doesn't mean there aren't malicious spirits trying to kill him. Which is where Madara (called Nyanko-sensei by Natsume) comes in; Madara serves as Natsume's bodyguard and spiritual advisor of sorts, even though he is motivated by his own desire to possess the Book of Friends.
Summary taken from wiki orz. First and second season are only 26 eps long together, and mostly consist of one-ep plotlines involving different characters. Be warned, though, it's not action-y at all, and actually very relaxing, soothing, and at times, heartbreaking.
