Dude. My fandom has a 14 and a 16 year old who are VERY popular to write about. The kinkmeme has actually been going for as long as the KH one - there have never been any legal problems or issues. I really would have been VERY frustrated if my kinkmeme had set up a rule of sorts like that, clearly stated or not.

I can only imagine it worse in a series like KH, where many of the main characters are underaged. At least my fandom has a healthy amount of overaged characters and pairings. I'm honestly shocked that it has been going for that long with those kinds of rules. Had it been my fandom I would have quickly set up an alternate meme.

This being said, I do respect the meme for going so long after it was started, and realize perhaps there was something appealing about it that I am missing. But still....glad this is not my fandom.

I'm amused as hell to see that Karl Urban is in this movie - I remember him from Xena (yes, I'm a geek, but in a non-Trekkie way). But JFC, Simon Pegg is in it and no one told me?? And as Scotty?

Not OP, but, where did you get that they had a problem with it being casual? They said they didn't like the rules that were enforced not actually being written out clearly, which they weren't. And it still comes down to "does the mod think this is "underage sounding," apparently, which doesn't help matters.

The secret isn't saying that the OP would be pissed if Kirk/Uhura doesn't break up Spock/Uhura, but that if Kirk/Spock doesn't break up Spock/Uhura. Which... just isn't going to happen, so prepare to be pissed. I'm not saying that Spock/Uhura will be togetha foreva, because there is a world of reasons why they might break up, but I don't see Kirk/Spock being one of them in the movie!canon.

The OP is setting him/herself up for disappointment.

As for what you claim the writers have said, I would take that with a grain of salt considering it's a spoiler for a movie that isn't even written yet.

Comparison to who? I think the movie did a good job giving each main character a time to shine, but it wouldn't have been able to give everyone the same focus as Spock and Kirk had and still keep the movie trimmed down to 2 hours.

I'll have to disagree with you on him having more chemistry than the computer. I've never been a fan of Spock's actor and most of the romances he's had on Heroes were void of chemistry. I thought it wasn't possible-this movie proved me wrong.

They can still write it. We have plenty of fills on the meme that are very clever in their wording in getting around it. It's not difficult.

She hosts it on her journal, and set it up not that long after some of the LJ mess. I think she's got every right to be wary over it. And there have only been a couple of times they've been broken, so it's really not that hard to keep to.

Oh, well, I agree. As much as I love Kirk/Spock, I don't ever expect it to EVER become canon. I guess I just read the secret differently than you. I read it as primarily a "I wish this couple would break up because I didn't see any chemistry" secret, with a bonus comment about the slashability of Kirk and Spock in the film; not necessarily that the slashiness of them would or should be the reason for the break down of the other.

I've seen fills that she apparently thought "almost crossed the line" that didn't mention them being underage at all, so... I don't know, it's very subjective and too "oh fuck, am I breaking a rule?" for my tastes.

I agree that she's got a right to be wary over it, but since I would assume she knows that her rules are a lot more strict than other kink memes, she wouldn't be surprised that people are taken aback or annoyed by it.

So you say. But the opening line of your secret states that you often leave harsh (and constructive, okay) comments just to see how the authors react. This makes it seem like you're intentionally phrasing your reviews a certain way purely for sport -- like you're baiting people. If it's a question of them failing to understand and appreciate your good intention, perhaps the thing to do is to restrict concrit to the writers who actively ask for it.

I thought this movie was a little overrated too, actually. But I think that's more because it was totally over-hyped by everyone I knew prior to my actually watching. It's good and epic and funny and all but it's not the be all end all of all humor everywhere.

It's like people need the validation for their ships. While I enjoy my ships going canon sometimes cause it gives me more material to work from, it's not necessary. I never understood the idea of a ship sinking because it didn't become canon. An atom bomb couldn't sink one of my ships.
