Re: 5.

Exactly. People should choose a character that compliments them and if not do something to at least help them cosplay the character more convincingly. I don't care what your build is, just make an effort to do something well. All too often people who are ill suited to cosplay certain characters also skimp on effort.

I have a friend who should not crossplay because she does nothing to hide that she's a girl and doesn't care either. It goes for many aspects of cosplay outside of bodytype. While I'd never tell someone that they shouldn't cosplay a character unless I knew them and they asked me, I wish more people would put more effort into it. Some people put a lot of time and love into cosplay and it shows.

I'm very strict on my own cosplay, and while others are welcome to do what they want to, in order for me to have the most fun while cosplaying is to know that my effort paid off in the end.

Yes, it's for fun but I can't see what's so fun about later finding yourself being picked apart by a bunch of losers who just want to make fun of someone. It happens to even the best of cosplayers and while everyone tries to ignore it, it happens and it can sting.

Save yourself from these losers having a valid excuse and please take a little time to make an effort.
