I mean, in any group of people, you're going to have your share of dickheads and you're going to have your share of people who don't get social cues. That's just people.

But on the whole, my experience in fandoms where I see this stuff is that the new fans are mostly trying to have fun and enjoy the canon. And this is stuff I've been into for 20, 25 years.
