That is a *scorching* hot take and though I have no frame of reference to Framk Maneiro I had a real gut reaction. Now that I'm calm I think we can handshake over the idea that DCAU!Bats is best Bats with allowances for childhood importance.

And also? Yeah I get it. I agree too. There's something nice about jokes/references relevant to you getting inserted instead of some foreign joke falling flat. That ability to bond with a character is great.

I hope they continue to put effort into making localization and subs (while still making dubs available because there is no *right* answer just what we personally like more) rather than just assuming American culture is "generic" enough to serve to everyone. And/or to save a buck.

I dropped the series after the first episode because I feared it would be another typical shounen (kinda grown out of that genre) but DILFs are of great interest to me. Should I give the series another shot?

I don't think you need a fursona necessarily? Unless you're into roleplaying. I'm not all that familiar with furries so forgive my ignorance, but isn't the appeal of fursonas that you don't have to be your human self? So by that logic, if you're comfortable being you, you wouldn't have that burning need for a fursona right now right this second. Or maybe you're taking your time because you want it to be perfect.

Without context, the line that they murderer each other greatly amuses me because I immediately assumed that it was at different times and I didn't even question that thought because anime.

There's a few routes people take when it comes to making a sona:

1) Make a character and use (and sometimes roleplay as) the character, which can be easier and maintain your privacy the most but also is often more exhausting in the long run because you're wearing a mask.

2) Just combine things that you like. What's your favorite animal? Your favorite color? Your favorite fashion style? This is usually one of the easiest and most fun but can sometimes feel disingenuous because it can feel shallow to only represent your likes and ideals.

3) Dig deep into yourself as a person and choose something that feels appropriate in its symbolism to who you are as an individual. This is probably the hardest to do, and induces the most vulnerability, but in the end people find it the most genuine to themselves.

I love acting in them (the costuming, the goofs, being weird) but I haven't gone to one in years. I have a really strong startle response. I'm really scared about embarrassing myself or worse pushing an actor to get away.

I'm probably the sort of person you want in a group because I set the scaredy-cat tone.
