It's always around 5-7pm for me when the secrets get uploaded daily so I love finishing off the day seeing if anyone started arguing about some stupid crap. It's like watching reality TV.

Though I find myself getting tired if its the same topic that's been brought up like 500 times (cough cough all the JK Rowling wank we've been having this year cough cough).

The new post usually goes up by the time I'm coming off my shift, so I read on the commute home sometimes for similar reasons.

In my experience, random music is far more annoying than noise.

What does "work noises" even mean? Noises that happen when people craft stuff?

I don't know that I've had a full-on mind change, but there are some commenters here who are very thoughtful and state their positions very well, and they've definitely made me see things in a different way on a few occasions. So, my views have definitely evolved due to them, if nothing else.

Yes, actually, this is kind of embarrassing but as a kid I didn't understand that edgy humor wasn't just "jokes" and repeated a lot of what I heard others say, not knowing the real meaning and intentions behind some 4channer-type stuff I had started to read. I was very isolated and very naive, so while I never identified as a bigot or wanted to be one, I had poor skills for identifying what bigotry actually was. When I first came on here I think it was linked in some forum thread about cringe sjws, so I expected to find nonsense arguments. And to be fair a lot of the social justice discussion on here is arguments about nonsense! But I saw people talking about things I'd never heard of and how it affected their lives, and realized it wasn't all just meaningless words and jokes. I started looking more into topics I saw on here and ended up learning a lot that helped me with understanding my own life situations (I was kinda in denial about how I was being treated in bigoted ways in my real life offline) as well as being kinder to others. Also, I realized I wanted to get into fandom myself and have fun instead of sitting around making fun of fandom like a loser.

A lot of stuff on here is trolling or just plain ignorant. I don't waste a lot of energy explaining myself over and over in arguments better left alone. But I'm very grateful to the people who took the time to explain their perspective over a decade ago, when I was really young and ignorant myself. It made a big difference to me back then.
