I wonder if it's because their hair will be fucked with a million times over in active filming and they figure it's not worth getting a proper job done when it'll be wrecked on day one of an actual project.

Or just really not feeling like dealing with having their hair done outside of work- like you spend enough time in the chair you really don't want to do it when you're not getting paid for it.
