I think people who say that they hate or are made angry by a fictional piece of media need to go outside and touch grass. That's such a waste of your emotional energy mired in negativity about something that no one is forcing you to engage with.

I have some media that I love to hate on because it's fun. But I'm not going into the fandom or hate-watching it, because I have better things to do with my time. I'll rant about it if it comes up, but I don't go out of my way. Ex: Prometheus. So much Wrong Science.

This secret seems troll-y. Tbf, I never could get into JJBA while surrounded by fandom hype for it— I just found it exhausting because of overexposure. I started watching the show a few years after several fandom friends had moved on and then I enjoyed it a lot. So I get being put off by a huge fandom at least.

There are a few pieces of media that I hate but I'm not constantly thinking about them. I only do if they are brought up or actively trying to think of media I hate.

Do you not have emotional reactions to media? Sometimes I'm invested in something and then it goes wrong and I hate it and want to vent about that on the internet. Nothing wrong with any of that, that's just fandom. What is wrong is people going online to bitch about how others use their time in fandom.

lol are you me OP? I swear the last 5 fics I just followed stopped updating - which is the reason why I tend to hold off from bookmarking a story until it looks like its going to regularly update... then it doesn't :'D

I used to have no problem reading WiPs because the fun of subscribing and joy of getting that notification of an update and being able to comment as the story goes along, but I feel like in the past few years every WiP I've subscribed to has just...stopped. No updates. So I stopped reading WiPs.

So long story short, it's not just you!
