Games thread!

Huh, that might have been interesting. But gotta admit, I cringed through every Ripper scene. There was just something that hardcore pinged my secondhand embarrassment even though I loved Giles/Anthony Stewart Head.

Previously I would have said bald didn't matter too much to me but I would lean more towards haired people being more attractive, but then I stumbled on this subreddit that is just balding people making the shave to full on bald and I was shocked at how bald is a huge upgrade in attractiveness for so many people! Like damn some people really rock the bald look! Also, such a feelgood sub - everyone was just so supportive and kind.

She was Lady Jessica Atreides in the 2000 TV miniseries. Francesca Annis played the character in the 1984 movie.

I can’t say I’ve noticed that. Any more specifics on what you think has changed or examples of recent jokes you didn’t like?

If anything, with his “behind the scenes” bits, I feel like I’m more appreciating Ryan George’s sincere sympathy for the difficulty of making movies.

NGL, I had this issue with ATLA, too. That, and Jason Isaac's insistence on SARRRCHING FAAARRR THA ARRRRVARRRTARRR.

Haha I can kinda relate. I recognized him immediately (and a few others) but it didn’t throw me out completely. But when I tried to watch The Dragon Prince a few years ago I couldn’t because it’s almost the exact same voice cast as ATLA.

He's Irish? That seems incongruous.

How so?

(Anonymous) 2024-03-13 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose you can call them difficult since that's what overcoming the random aspects is when you're dealt a bad hand, but serious really is a bit of a stretch.

But they can be fun when you need to kill time. I played a good deal of DCSS during boring lockdown online classes. Sure, it's much, much more fun to do old school dungeon crawling with older editions of D&D and a bunch of friends but sometimes you really just need to burn some minutes of your life away!

What makes you hate a character?

Genuinely curious.

When the way they act is completely at odds with the way the narrative treats them. Like, the author clearly wants you to think that this person is the most ethical, nicest person ever, but the character trashes other character's boundaries as a matter of course and thinks it's fine.

Cowardice (except for children). Especially if they betray someone because of being cowardly.

I haven't seen this, but Saskia Reeves is awesome in general.
